“As He (Jesus)
saw the crowds, His heart was filled with pity for them, because they were
worried and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd”Matthew 9:36, TEV
There are people around
us daily who are searching for love.
There is a God-shaped VOID , or emptiness, inside every individual that
can only be filled by Jesus Christ.
The most effective
evangelism is relational. The key is
relationships!
II. Be prepared (how to’s)
“But in your hearts
set apart Christ as Lord. Always be
prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the
hope that you have.” I Peter 3:15a
It’s wise to know several methods
because the need in each witnessing situation is different.
“Let your
conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know
how to answer everyone.” Colossians 4:6
A. Sharing your personal
testimony.
* What your life was
like without Christ.
*How you accepted
Christ.
* What He has done in
your life since.
* What He’s doing in
your life right now.
Your testimony will not
always sound exactly the same. It’s
important for it to be relevant.
“. . . whatever a
person is like, I try to find common ground with him so that he will let me
tell him about Christ and let Christ save him.” I Corinthians 9:22b, LB
B. Witnessing with a
tract .
You can’t give it away
if you don’t have it with you!
Advantages:
·
It gives you a GUIDE to keep you on the subject
and relieves nervousness.
·
It has the Bible verses printed out, in case you
forget.
·
It gives VISUAL help, as well as verbal.
·
The person being witnessed to will then have
something to take with him, so he can look it over later.
Remember to trade names
and addresses with the person you’re witnessing to. (Girls, use discretion.)

D. Planting a seed.
Not necessarily sharing
the entire Gospel, but bringing God into the conversation when possible. This is a learned discipline.
Example:”Didn’t God give us a beautiful day?!”
“I planted the seed,
Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.”
I
Corinthians 3:6
You may plant a seed,
and someone else may come along later and plant another seed, and before long
God will use all of these things to bring a person to Christ.
We have many
opportunities to plant seeds, almost daily, that we may not even
recognize.
II. Go, tell!
In the Great Commission
Jesus isn’t telling the lost to come and hear.
He is telling you and me to GO and TELL!
A. Don’t wait until it’s
too late!
Jesus said, “Do you
not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and
look on the fields, that they are white for harvest .” John 4: 35, NAS
When Jesus speaks of these fields being white, it means
that the harvest is already overripe – there is already a chance of some being LOST.
B. You don’t have to go
far.
Your first responsibility in witnessing is to those CLOSEST to
you. They are the hardest to minister
to, because they know you BEST.
There are approximately 12 people around every Christian, that we know
on a first-name basis, who are lost.
C. Evangelism begins
before you ever leave home
Pray for opportunities
to share His love at the end of your QUIET TIME each morning. Then make sure you LOOK for open doors, because He will do His part!
D. Relax and be
yourself.
It is a shame that the
Christian and non-Christian both seem to be so UPTIGHT during witnessing
situations.
View your tract as a $10
bill.
